One boy inspired a multitude with nothing more than a smile and a dream to help others.
At the age of 12, Bo Johnson was diagnosed with Extramedulary Acute Myeloid Leukemia (EM AML), a rare form of leukemia. Prior to his illness, Bo was a normal, active boy, enjoying life with family and friends. The incredible part of Bo’s story is that while he was battling the most serious medical condition possible, he chose to live a life of paying it forward by starting the Go Bo! Foundation.
Bo’s message was simple, yet powerful…
“Love each other, help each other, have your neighbor’s back.
If you see someone in need, even a stranger, reach out and help.
The world can be a better place if we care and help each other.”
− Bo Johnson
Bo valiantly fought EM/AML, but lost his battle on September 28, 2012. The illness that took his life could not stifle his spirit, his courage or his kindheartedness.
The Go Bo! Foundation brings hope to children with life-threatening medical conditions by:
• Funding cutting-edge research for cancer and related blood disorders by supporting the MACC Fund
• Supporting state-of-the-art treatment in a child friendly environment
• Assisting their families during times of financial need
The Go Bo! Foundation is a way for each of us to give back; a community of people gathering together to “pay it forward” because Bo reminded us how to live each day. Through the dedication of The Go Bo! Foundation, Bo’s spirit is alive and well and his legacy of caring and love lives on.
